Could time stop in Santorini? A different promenade to Imerovigli & Firostefani

July 26, 2014

Could time stop here and now? …This would be probably one’s thought in every turn around the whitewashed narrow alleys of Santorini. This would be anybody’s hope in every glance to the velvet blue sea from enchanting Caldera. Set off your five star hotel Santorini, hike around the island and relish majestic views in breathtaking scenery.

Ascend to Fira and reach its center (the “wreath” as “stefani” is translated in Greek):

FIROSTEFANI

It is the most advantageous point for infinite view to the volcano. The cliff is truly steep there, yet breathtaking and spine-tingling at every glance. Continue your walk to the Conference Centre where you can enjoy 3-D pictures of the frescoes in Akrotiri. Few more steps and you will see Imerovigli emerging, at the highest point of the Caldera.

IMEROVIGLI

Located on the most advantageous point of the Caldera, Imerovigli offers infinite view to Thirassia and is one of the most wonderful spots all around the world. Marvel the lovely architecture of the houses in the preserved settlement, visit the Church of Panagia Malteza featuring the grand wooden temple and choose a spot to enjoy the breathtaking dusk viewing Ios, Folegandros and Sikinos Islands. For the most romantic and adventurous ones, here’s your spot: jusy before your eyes lies Skaros, a rocky hill which featured a watchtower in the past. Worth the hike!
