Scuba dive in Santorini

Santorini is famous for its distinguishing volcanic formations ashore as well as underwater.  The sea bottom of the island is among the most beautiful and interesting ones in the world, featuring a multitude of underwater caves, reefs, wrecks, rich marine life and the volcano. At the same time, diving offers relaxation in a different world where everything is slower, quieter and calmer.

Around the edge of the caldera and below the cliffs, the sea bottom features colourful sponges, nudibranchs, groupers, snappers, barracuda, shoaling and schooling fish. At Palea and Nea Kameni volcanic islets one can see lava formations and marine life hiding amongst the lava rocks.

A local tip: The small cliffs around Ammoudi bay make it an ideal spot for diving. You shouldn’t miss the experience of diving over from Aghios Nikolaos, a 6 meters tall islet.
